Story | Mistaken Identity
This is a story of a time when I had my identity mistaken by someone and I didn’t correct them for 2 years.
From the left. Myself, Chicago radio legend WBEZ’s Richard Steele, 2012 Vocalo DJ competition winner DJ Shazam Bangles, Mr. Chicago Music with over 40 years in the business a pioneer in the music industry George Daniels, co-host Shantell Jamison, and legendary Chicago DJ Jesse De La Pena.

Become a Vocalo Storyteller! Applications due April 16th
We did this in January as well and had some great stories come out of it. Free education, apply today.
So, check it out: We’re recruiting 8 to 10 community-minded folks to participate in Vocalo’s free storytelling workshops. The classes will be taught by multimedia professionals from Chicago Public Media (Vocalo/WBEZ) and will take place at 848 E Grand Ave at Navy Pier, every Saturday from 12-4pm, from May 5th-June 2nd.
Steve Edwards is one of the dudes in radio I respect to the fullest. When I grow up, I want to be just like him.

I had a chance to talk with professor Larry Bennett about his new book “The Third City: Chicago and American Urbanism.” I felt very lucky to talk with professor Bennett because I knew this would be an opportunity to learn more about my city. It was like I had gone to a great lecture about the history of Chicago development, except I got to ask questions as we went along. The book can be found at the University of Chicago Press.
I’ve been really into Vocalo since moglo was on The Morning AMp! and now prefer to listen to it over my local NPR station. They were just talking about the Biebs and then immediately played Baby followed by Kanye’s Runaway Remix ft. JB and I love them for it.
Also, they had some members of Roundhouse Productions’ all-female cast of Reservoir Dogs on earlier this week and I’m sad that I can’t go so all you Chicago kids should definitely see it and report back.

Shantell Jamison and I square off on whether race has a big effect on whether people succeed.
Shantell says, “yes absolutely without a doubt.”
I was saying, “maybe not.”
